We believe allowing motorcycles in bus lanes supports aims within the UK’s new Active Travel Strategy (CWIS3) of achieving predictable layouts, conflict reduction and efficient use of road space, and has been shown to improve safety in several UK cities. However, we feel many areas still ban motorcycles without presenting clear evidence. A nationwide review could protect vulnerable riders, reduce risk and create consistent, evidence based national guidance.
