Allow Kinship Carers to Receive Child Maintenance Without Reductions in support

We call on Government to ensure all kinship carers can receive child maintenance without it reducing financial support they get. Child maintenance is a child's entitlement & should support their needs. We believe kinship carers shouldn't be financially penalised for stepping up to care for children.

We ask the Government to ensure all kinship carers can receive child maintenance without it reducing allowances or financial support they receive from local authorities or other bodies. Child maintenance is a parent's contribution towards their child's upbringing and should benefit the child directly. Kinship carers strive to provide loving, stable homes and often prevent children entering the care system. We believe they should not be financially disadvantaged for stepping up to care for family members.
