Make it law to have working parking air conditioners in all HGVs

Pass a law to make it mandatory for all Heavy Goods Vehicles to have a fully working Parking Air Conditioning unit installed. HGV drivers’ lives can be at risk when parked up due to record breaking temperatures and we believe existing laws are not sufficient to prevent this.

Year on year we are seeing record temperatures all over the UK. We are calling for a law to be passed to make it mandatory for fully functioning parking air conditioning to be installed in all HGVs, reducing the risk of sleep deprivation as well as heat exhaustion or life-threatening heatstroke. It will also save fuel and stop illegal engine idling. In turn reducing the number of RTCs, keeping roads safer for all users as HGV drivers will be well rested and in good health.
