Remain a part of the European Convention on Human Rights.

To remain a part of the European Convention on Human Rights, and to not pass the European Convention on Human Rights (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill.

This petition was rejected on 6th Aug 2026 for not being a Government or Parliamentary matter

The Petition Committee commented:
This a Private Members Bill not a Government Bill. It is up to individual MPs how they wish to vote at its Second Reading. On Friday 11 September it is very unlikely it will be reached before 2.30pm and it will take only one objection to postpone its Second Reading to the back of the queue of Bill on another Friday. You may wish to contact your local MP on this matter.

The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) protects the United Kingdom from ill treatment. Under the ECHR we are given the right to a fair trial in civil and criminal matters (Article 6). This article is the foundation on which our justice system operates. To eliminate it would create numerous issues regarding the safety of our freedom. The ECHR also outlines other major issues such as the right to life and freedom of thought . To leave would be detrimental to the safety our nation.
