Call an immediate UK General Election

Hold an immediate General Election. Andy Burnham became Prime Minister through an internal Labour leadership process, not a UK-wide vote. Although constitutional, such a major change in leadership should be decided by the British people through a fresh democratic mandate.

This petition calls for an immediate UK General Election following the appointment of Andy Burnham as Prime Minister through an internal Labour Party leadership contest. While this is permitted under the UK's constitutional system, we believe such a significant change in national leadership should be put to the British public, allowing voters to decide who governs the country through a fresh democratic mandate.
