Renters’ Rights Act 2025
SI explanatory text Section 64(2) of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 (c. 26) (“the Act”) provides that a landlord redress scheme is a scheme which, firstly, provides for a complaint made by or on behalf of a prospective, current or former residential tenant against a private rented sector landlord, who is a member of the scheme to be independently investigated and determined by an independent individual and, secondly, is either approved or designated by the Secretary of State.

SI explanatory text These Regulations set out the tenancy terms and other information which landlords of relevant private rented sector assured tenancies in England (or their contractors, as the case may be) must include in the written statement they give to their tenants under section 16D of the Housing Act 1988 (“the 1988 Act”) and the information they must give to their tenants under paragraph 7(2) of Schedule 6 to the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 (“the 2025 Act”).

SI explanatory text These Regulations make amendments to secondary legislation in consequence of the coming into force of Chapter 1 of Part 1 of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 (c. 26) (“the 2025 Act”) for the private rented sector, and section 62 of the 2025 Act. These Regulations also make minor miscellaneous amendments to the Assured Tenancies and Agricultural Occupancies (Rent Information) Order 1988 (S.I. 1988/2199), the Long Residential Tenancies (Principal Forms) Regulations 1997 (S.I. 1997/3008) and the Transfer of Tenancies and Right to Acquire (Exclusion) Regulations 2012 (S.I. 2012/696).

SI explanatory text These Regulations amend the Student Accommodation (Codes of Management Practice and Specified Educational Establishments) (England) Regulations 2024 (S.I. 2024/947) (“the 2024 Regulations”) and the Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) Regulations 1998 (S.I. 1998/1967) (“the 1998 Regulations”). They also make standalone provision for the purposes of a transitional provision in paragraph 13 of Schedule 6 to the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 (c. 26) (“the 2025 Act”).
