I rise to present a petition concerning infected blood. I do so on behalf of my constituents, because it is simply unacceptable that the Budget failed to provide for compensation for those affected. I hope the Government will now take action to fulfil the will of this House, as expressed in the Victims and Prisoners Bill.
The petition states:
The petition of residents of the constituency of West Ham,
Declares that people who received infected blood and who have suffered as a consequence have, along with their families, waited far too long for redress.
The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to implement the recommendations in the Second Interim Report of the Infected Blood Inquiry without delay.
