Secretary Louise Haigh, supported by the Prime Minister, Secretary Alex Norris, Secretary Angela Rayner, Secretary Chris Bryant, Secretary Douglas Alexander, Hamish Falconer, Kanishka Narayan, Dan Jarvis, Florence Eshalomi, Mark Ferguson and Jim McMahon, presented a Bill to repeal provision which prohibits persons to the Roman Catholic or Jewish faiths from advising the Crown on appointments in the Church of England or Church of Scotland; and to repeal provision which precludes such persons from making ecclesiastical appointments.
