Written CorrectionsWe are also looking to support general practice in better identifying and recording which of their patients are unpaid carers, to help ensure that those carers can get the support they need in the community. NHS England recently published guidance to support that, and work is ongoing to ensure more consistent coding of unpaid carers by general practitioners.

Written correction submitted by the Minister for Secondary Care, the hon. Member for Bristol South (Karin Smyth):
We are also looking to support general practice in better identifying and recording which of their patients are unpaid carers, to help ensure that those carers can get the support they need in the community. NHS England published guidance on supporting carers in general practice in 2019. A refreshed version has been developed with sector partners and will be published in due course. Work is ongoing to ensure more consistent coding of unpaid carers by general practitioners.
