Andrew Lewin Excerpts

Wednesday 4th November 2026 Commons Chamber

[Louise Haigh]

I am happy to take that case away and raise it with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

[Andrew Lewin (Welwyn Hatfield) (Lab)]

Q11. Hatfield has a proud history, but our town centre is not the destination it could or should be. We need to unlock public and private investment in a regeneration programme. Labour is the party of new towns, so will my right hon. Friend build on that legacy and support me and my borough council on an ambitious regeneration programme, so we can play our part in delivering good growth in every postcode?

[Louise Haigh]

I thank my hon. Friend. At the Budget, we made clear our commitment to creating good growth in every postcode, driving regeneration in every part of Britain. That commitment was backed by £80 million of new funding for the local renewal fund to support projects that create jobs, invest in local economic regeneration and boost growth. His proposal is a very good fit for that funding, and I will ensure he meets the relevant Minister to discuss.
