Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment he has made of the results of proposals to upgrade the Borderlands rail line.

The proposals to upgrade the Borderlands rail line are a local matter and being led by Merseytravel and the Welsh Government. My Department has not been involved at this stage in the proposals. Ministers from the Wales Office will be meeting stakeholders in North Wales soon to discuss the case for investment.
