Improve screening and support for coeliac

The Government should -Review NICE guidelines on screening and treatment -Include screening for people with pre-existing conditions (under the NICE guidelines) -Undertake a national nutritional survey for coeliacs -Require clearer labelling in colour on front of food packaging for all allergens.

This could Improve quality of life; identify health conditions earlier; make people aware; make shopping easier; improve educational attainment and life chances. Some people have silent symptoms of coeliac that mirror other medical conditions.

It is estimated 1:100 people have coeliac in the UK – a gluten sensitivity. If left undiagnosed, it can lead to serious health complications/life limiting conditions.
