The FCA should be empowered and encouraged to stop insurance companies from renewing policies with inflated premiums (while offering cheaper premiums on comparison websites). This practice is designed to exploit loyal customers - typically the old and vulnerable.

My motor insurance company were going to renew my policy automatically with a premium £150 higher than it offered me for the same policy on a comparison website. They also made it difficult for me to cancel the renewal.
