UK has one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding with approx. 34% of babies being breastfed. National campaigns to promote the support and normality of breastfeeding should be created in the same respect that stop smoking campaigns are.

UK has the lowest rate in the world for babies aged 1 being breastfed (1). Breastfeeding reduces risk of infections and shows long-term health benefits into adulthood. Breastfeeding mothers have lower risks of cancers and cardiovascular disease. Both reduce future costs to the NHS (2).
