According to a recent research of the Manchester University none of the three most widely used type of containers (aluminium, polypropylene and extruded polystyrene) is a sustainable solution, resulting in a negative impact on pollution, littering and marine ecosystems [1].
Current UK infrastructure should also be improved to safely and appropriately manage the full lifecycle of biodegradable / compostable materials.
