Ministers need to drastically ramp up the purchase of ventilators and Heart-Lung machines and ECMO beds. The machines are an essential part of treating those with severe cases of COVID-19, when a sticky mucus fills patients' lungs preventing them from breathing.
We want the Government to:
1) Publish how many ventilators, heart-lung machines & ECMO beds they will purchase!
2) Publish when they will purchase them.
3) Publish the date those machines will enter service.
4) Actually follow through and buy the machines.
Basically: we want them to accept the BMA's position that we don't have enough and put the required funding behind an order for those machines to rectify the short-fall as soon as possible.
