The unexpected loss of a partner can be financially distressing, adding to significant emotional well-being challenges for partners, in-particular for those with children. This could be compounded by the impact on the economy and loss of employment for many. The state provides a welfare system to support those who lose their employment, but during such times of national distress, the nation should ensure that those who lose a partner are financially supported.
