Extend requirements for self-isolation to people with symptoms of any virus

The Government should learn from the current Covid-19 outbreak and require people to stay home at the first sign of a virus such as a cold or flu. People who show signs of a virus are to work from home, where possible, or take sick leave.

People who are unable to work from home or need to travel must wear a face mask and minimise contact.

The risk of another outbreak requiring such severe restrictions is far too great to ignore. To those with compromised respiratory systems and immune deficiencies, common colds and seasonal flus can too become fatal.

Businesses, governments and societies have proven capable of modifying behaviour to protect others and support the sick. Make this response the new norm to protect the greater good.
