Currently key workers such as cleaners only receive the minimum wage and many are employed on zero hour contracts. They often don’t qualify for sick pay or can’t take paid holiday. Many have to do more than one job to afford to live.

This would mean that people working within these industries would get better pay, benefits such as full sick and holiday pay and be able to afford a mortgage etc. It may also stop some having to claim benefits to supplement their income. We owe these workers more than just clapping.
