Government to support the Elections (Proportional Representation) Bill

We call on the UK Government to support the progression of the Elections (Proportional Representation) Bill, ensuring time for a Second Reading in the Commons. Even if a vote were to fail, this is an important issue and deserves open debate and a free vote in both Houses.

We believe the current electoral system (FPTP) often results in disproportionate outcomes and under-representation of many voters. We feel the Elections (Proportional Representation) Bill, which was introduced as a Private Members' bill, presents an opportunity to modernise our democracy by ensuring every vote counts more equally, and deserves fair consideration and debate.
