Raise the age for invites to regular mammograms beyond the age of 71

Women are entitled to have mammograms for their whole lives, yet they stop receiving regular invites after 71 and then have to arrange screenings themselves. Many women don’t realise this and assume they no longer need a mammogram, which means they miss vital screening.

We want the Government to increase the age for invites to routine mammograms beyond 71 so regular invites continue. I'm a nurse and advise women that they are entitled to have mammograms for their whole lives. However, women over 71 no longer receive a letter regularly inviting them to a screening - they have to arrange it themselves. Most women in this age group aren't aware of this and assume that screening ends at 71. Breast cancer risk increases with age, and breast cancer is more common in women over 70.
