Make covert placement of a tracking device an offence without repeated tracking

I call on the Government to make it a criminal offence to intentionally and covertly place a tracking device on another person’s vehicle, belongings or property to monitor or locate them without consent. The offence should apply from the initial placement, without requiring repeated tracking.

Covert tracking can be used in stalking, domestic abuse and coercive control, exposing someone’s home, workplace or place of safety. The law should recognise the danger from the moment a device is deliberately placed with intent to track or locate someone. Victims should not have to prove repeated monitoring or a course of conduct before action can be taken. Once is enough.
