Government does not hold centrally the number of cyber attacks against public services. Each department manages incidents which affect the services they are responsible for. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has investigated 590 significant incidents, defined as events which may impact the UK’s national security or economic wellbeing, across the public and private sectors in its first year. The NCSC provides a unified source of advice and support to the public sector making it more resilient to the ever present cyber threat.
