Question to the Department for International Trade:
To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, whether the Government has received representations from the Government of Chile on concessions for its agricultural sector in any new agreement with that country after the UK leaves the EU.
As a priority, we are currently working with partner countries to seek continuity of trading arrangements as we leave the EU. We are having technical discussions with partner countries, including Chile, on this. As my Rt Hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union set out on 26 January 2018, it is the aim of this Government that existing international agreements we are party to should continue to apply during the implementation period, including trade agreements the EU has struck while the UK was a member.
