On 23 December 2021, we published ‘Our Vision for the Women’s Health Strategy for England’, which sets out ambitions to improve the health and wellbeing of women in England and reduce disparities. We will publish the Women’s Health Strategy later this year.

In January 2021, NHS England and NHS Improvement established the Menopause Improvement Programme. This programme aims to improve clinical pathways to allow women to access personalised care and support, including access to hormone replacement therapy and is producing resources to develop the appropriate skills for healthcare professionals.

NHS England and NHS Improvement are also investing £127 million in 2022/23 for the National Health Service maternity workforce and to improve neonatal care. This is in addition to a £95 million investment in the recruitment of a further 1,200 midwives and 100 consultant obstetricians.
