Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, whether he has had recent discussions with the Secretary of State for Transport on the potential merits of introducing a scrappage scheme to enable small businesses to recycle diesel commercial vehicles and replace them with (a) cleaner hybrid vehicles or (b) zero emission vehicles.

The Government has no plans at this stage to introduce a scrappage scheme.

The Government has committed £2.5 billion since 2020 to support the transition to zero emission vehicles, with funding to offset their higher upfront cost, and to accelerate the rollout of chargepoint infrastructure.
