Mental Health Services: Waiting Lists

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many adults are on waiting lists, having been referred by a GP to mental health services in (a) the UK, (b) South Yorkshire and (c) Barnsley as of 10 June 2022.

This information is not held in the format requested as there are no overall waiting time standards. However, waiting times data are available for specific mental health services where a waiting time standard is in place. Data on access to psychological therapies, early intervention in psychosis and children and young people eating disorders is available at the following link:

In February 2022, NHS England and NHS Improvement published the outcomes of the consultation on five new access and waiting time standards for mental health services. We are now working with NHS England and NHS Improvement on the next steps.
