Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what recent estimate his Department has made of the proportion of claimants who will receive higher rates under the new personal independence payment compared to the disability living allowance.
The Department published its estimates of the proportion of claimants to personal independence payment (PIP) who will be in receipt of both the enhanced rates on 19 December 2012, https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/180964/pip-reassessments-and-impacts.pdf. By May 2018 we estimate that 23% of claimants will be receiving both the enhanced rates. In comparison, we estimate that the proportion receiving both the higher rates of disability living allowance without the introduction of PIP would be 16%.
