Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how many dogs have been born in the UK in each of the last five years.

There are no central records of the numbers of dogs in the UK. However, estimates by animal welfare organisations and pet food manufacturers of the dog population in the UK range from 7 to 10 million.
