The Government is strongly committed to encouraging trade between Commonwealth members, working with our friends and allies in the Commonwealth to remove barriers and liberalise the global trading environment. However, it would not be possible to agree a Commonwealth free trade area given that some Commonwealth members are also members of the European Union.
