Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many staff in his Department and its executive agencies and associated bodies were engaged off-payroll in each of the last five years up to the most recent period for which figures are available.

The number of staff (expressed as Full Time Equivalents: (FTE)) engaged ‘off payroll’ - defined as agency workers, contractors and consultants - by the Department and its executive agencies: the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Public Health England (PHE) are given in the tables below.
