Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps her Department is taking to support and champion the work of Maggie's, and similar charities, in providing practical, emotional and psychological support to people with cancer and their families and friends; and how that work will be reflected in the delivery of the living well component of the national cancer plan.

The Department recognises and applauds the work of Maggie’s, who, for more than thirty years, have provided caring and supportive environments for people with cancer and their families during their times of greatest need. Many other charities across the country provide similar help and play a crucial part within the overall support available to cancer patients and their families. The Department maintains a regular dialogue with those charities to assess how their services can be supported, including through the delivery of the National Cancer Plan.
