Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps her Department is taking to improve maternity and neonatal services across England; and if she will set out how those improvements will benefit hospitals serving local residents across the South West, including those in Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency.
The National Maternity and Neonatal Taskforce will translate the recommendations from Baroness Amos’ national investigation into a single action plan to drive systemic and sustained improvement in maternity and neonatal care across the country.
We are also taking immediate action now. Since April 2025, we have invested £187 million to improve maternity and neonatal estates, we are expanding Martha’s Rule across all maternity settings, as well as implementing triage standards to ensure safe and equitable care for all women and babies regardless of location.
