Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, if he will publish a full transcript of his meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister on 23 July 2026.

During his meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the Foreign Secretary stressed the importance of long-term cooperation on global issues, including de-escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and pushing Russia to end their invasion of Ukraine. He also raised the ongoing imprisonment of Jimmy Lai - a matter of the utmost importance to the UK Government. The Government's policy towards China remains consistent and long term, we will cooperate when we can and challenge when we must.
