Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, how much funding has been allocated to the Exceptional Regional Growth Fund in each year of the Spending Review period.
The Exceptional Regional Growth Fund (eRGF) functions not as a standalone fund, but as a flexible ministerial mechanism to secure critical investments or mitigate economic shocks. Recent and ongoing interventions managed via this mechanism include part of the HMG funding to the Universal Studios project in Bedford.
The Exceptional Regional Growth fund was originally an element of the main Regional Growth Fund scheme, which closed in 2015/16. When the main scheme closed, Ministers chose to retain the eRGF element.
As such, funding is not explicitly set aside for the eRGF at the 2025 Spending Review; instead funding is drawn from agreed departmental settlements and allocated via the eRGF.
