Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what guidance her Department has issued to local highway authorities on street works licensing and liability for cross-pavement electric vehicle charging channels.

In December 2024, the Government published cross-pavement guidance to help local authorities understand what to consider for the rollout of cross-pavement solutions. This includes relevant planning permissions, minimum existing standards, and responsibilities.

The Electric Vehicle Pavement Channel Grant was also facilitated by guidance on how to plan, procure and install cross-pavement solutions, as well as case studies from successful local authority installations. It is available to all local authorities on an online portal alongside a comprehensive range of guidance on all aspects of electric vehicle infrastructure deployment.
