Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what steps her Department is taking to increase the uptake of air-to-air heat pumps through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

The Government’s Warm Homes Plan sets out measures to support the deployment of air-to-air heat pumps, including providing grants under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and removing other barriers to uptake, such as amending permitted development rights so that air-to-air heat pumps can also benefit.

There is a role for communications to increase demand, help educate and enable households on their journey to greener, more energy efficient homes. The Government’s ‘Warm and Fuzzy’ campaign will continue to evolve, seeking to build consumer awareness and understanding of the benefits of heat pumps, while promoting the support available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
