Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what guidance her Department provides to harbour authorities on balancing operational responsibilities with the preservation of nationally significant historic vessels.

The department provides Ports with guidance primarily via the Ports good Governance Guidance, which sets out how ports should manage their affairs. There is no specific guidance around preservation, but the department expects all ports to conform to national legislation that deal with preservation of vessels.
