Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment her Department has made of the potential impact of the lack of NHS access to omaveloxolone following the termination of the NICE appraisal on patients with Friedreich's ataxia.

The Hon Member is right to point out that the company in question withdrew its evidence submission to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), meaning that NICE was unable to complete its appraisal of omaveloxolone. All the potential discussions that the Hon Member asks about are therefore contingent on the company making a new evidence submission.
