Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many Cross Country trains in 2026 scheduled to stop at Cheltenham Spa have not stopped at that station due to overcrowding.

CrossCountry (XC) reports that there have been 10 occasions since 1 January 2026 when services have failed to stop at Cheltenham Spa due to passenger loadings. We expect that with the recent announcement that XC is being funded by the Government to lease a further 40 carriages from next year, instances of this nature should become far less frequent.
