Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the Written Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules made on 3 September 2026 (HCWS311) what plans she has to make further changes to sponsorship rules to prevent exploitation by enabling workers to escape poor treatment more easily before it escalates to the point of modern slavery.

As outlined in the White Paper - Restoring Control Over the Immigration System published 12 May 2025, we are exploring making it easier for workers to move between sponsors for the duration of their visa. That is ongoing but our recent change to the Immigration Rules represents a first step towards achieving that aim.
