The regulation of nuclear transport security is conducted by the independent Office for Nuclear Regulation. It is standard practice for the ONR to require the most sensitive cargos to have protection measures that include Civil Nuclear Constabulary. Any decisions to adjust the existing law or regulation will be taken based on all relevant evidence and would need to ensure that security remained robust.
