To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, with reference to page 8 of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) Group’s document entitled Building our nuclear nation: NDA Group response to the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce Review, published on 17 September 2026, whether she has made an assessment of the potential cost savings of removing mandatory Civil Nuclear Constabulary armed escorts from (a) Category II and (b) Category III material transport in each of the next five years.

The Government has not made a separate assessment of savings for Category II or Category III material transports over the next five years. Any changes to current arrangements would be considered on the basis of all relevant evidence and would need to ensure that nuclear security remains robust.
