Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether she has assessed the potential merits of amending the National Planning Policy Framework to require all new roads to be built to an adoptable standard.

I refer the hon. Member to the Written Ministerial Statement (HCWS1210) made on 18 December 2025.

The two consultations referenced in it both closed on 12 March 2026. We are currently analysing the feedback received and will publish our response in due course.
