Question to the Northern Ireland Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, what steps he is taking to address the capacity of wastewater infrastructure in Northern Ireland.
Whilst public services are a devolved matter for the Northern Ireland Executive, the Government has provided a record financial settlement, in addition to significant funding for public services through the £235m Transformation fund.
As part of the Transformation funding, £15m has been invested in the Department of Infrastructure’s Urban Drainage project which is testing sustainable drainage systems to mitigate flood risk and alleviate pressure on wastewater capacity in Northern Ireland. This project is currently on track to deliver its intended milestones and I look forward to meeting with the Infrastructure Minister to discuss its progress.
The Government will continue to work collaboratively with the Northern Ireland Executive to ensure the sustainable delivery of public services in Northern Ireland.
