Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether she has had any discussions with the pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo on offering people living with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer, who are currently unable to access Enhertu due to having received additional lines of chemotherapy, compassionate access to the drug.
I have had no discussions with the companies about the compassionate use of Enhertu outside the clinical commissioning criteria for its use in National Health Service patients.
We sympathise with all individuals in the situation raised by the Hon. Members. However, the kind of compassionate use schemes referred to operate outside the established commissioning arrangements for medicines and their provision remains a matter for the pharmaceutical companies concerned.
