Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps her Department is taking to increase uptake of ME/CFS training among healthcare professionals, and how it plans to assess the impact of that training on clinical practice.
The e-learning modules have, as of June 2026, been accessed by over 650 people from a range of backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, carers, and people with lived experience.
We are working with the Royal College of Physicians and the Medical Schools Council to further promote awareness of the programme. The modules have all received high ratings, with the overall programme having recently been nominated for a Learning Technologies Award, and the Department and NHS England continue to monitor feedback to ensure that this e-learning continues to be relevant, compliant with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance, and detailed.
The Department is working closely with NHS England regarding how current NHS England responsibilities will be delivered post-April 2027. We are assessing the full range of current functions across both organisations, and we are working at pace on a plan for the smooth transfer of people, functions and responsibilities.
