The Government is committed to acting against rogue tradespeople. We recently supported the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman’s new Approved Code for the home improvement sector, which will require participating businesses to meet robust consumer protection standards.

Work is ongoing with Trader Recommendation Platforms to improve consumer outcomes, including through stronger approaches to onboarding, verification, monitoring and complaints.

The Government is also developing long-term reforms to strengthen the consumer protection landscape, enabling local Trading Standards teams to make better use of their powers to support local communities.
