Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what steps he is taking to reduce the public spend in offshore companies.
The government is ensuring that public procurement delivers the best value for taxpayers by protecting national security, enhancing supply chain resilience across critical sectors, and supporting businesses, growth and innovation. Changes, including those to the Social Value model announced by the government in August 2026, will ensure that suppliers will be assessed by their commitment to back British jobs, skills and opportunities, to deliver benefits for communities across the UK.
As set out in Managing Public Money, central government bodies should avoid contractors using offshore jurisdictions, consistent with international obligations and the government’s stated objectives on tax transparency and openness.
