Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether her Department plans to introduce a minimum period of aftercare for trees planted on new housing developments.

My Department does not plan to introduce a minimum aftercare period for newly-planted trees.

Policy N3 of the National Planning Policy Framework published on 17 August makes clear that development proposals should make provision for the long-term maintenance of both existing and newly-planted trees.
